Devon Knight Events is a full-service event planning firm based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We specialize in organizing conferences, workshops, public meetings and special events. In our twenty years in business, we have produced over 150 events for associations, government and non-government organizations, universities, and clients in the private sector. We give each event our personal attention and work flexibly with clients and their staffs.

Devon Knight is the principal and owner of Devon Knight Events. She has over thirty-five years of event planning experience in Canada and the United States.

Before launching her company in 1990, Devon produced special events for Vancouver’s 1986 World Exposition (EXPO 86) and coordinated international conferences for the new Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre. She moved to Canada in 1982. In the 1970s, she coordinated events and meetings for the Chicago-based American Planning Association.

Devon holds an M.Sc. degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the London School of Economics and a B.A. degree with honours in Geography from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She qualified for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 1996 when there were fewer than 20 CMPs in British Columbia. She is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI).

“People ask me why I became an event planner after studying to be an urban planner. The thrill of producing events for EXPO 86 changed my direction. The skill sets are similar, actually. You have to be well organized and detail oriented, you have to know how to take a plan from concept to execution while juggling many variables – and there’s a successful result at the end. We still coordinate a lot of events which are about urban planning or resource use in this beautiful province, so I really get the best of both worlds.”

Dave is responsible for marketing and communications for Devon Knight Events and our clients' events. He also manages registration, abstract submissions, speakers and program development for many of our events.

Dave has undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard and a graduate degree in urban planning from the University of California.  Before joining Devon Knight Events, he held a variety of positions in the urban planning and management consulting fields.

“I came to Canada in 1998 and married Devon three years later. That’s how I started my third career as an event planner. What I enjoy about coordinating events is not just the thoroughness of our approach, but the opportunity to learn about each client’s issues and goals. I’ve written background papers, found good speakers, and helped clients reach the right people for their events. The success of our events and the positive feedback we get from clients and participants makes this a very rewarding profession.”
