Focus Groups: Food Traditions and Genetically Modified Foods: DKE is assisting Praxis Pacific with a series of focus groups
that seek to determine how food and dietary practices of various religious, philosophical and cultural traditions may be affected by the genetic modification of food. The research, conducted by the
University of Victoria's Centre for Studies in Religion and Society, is surveying representatives of the Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and ethical/vegan/vegetarian traditions. Web reference:

Columbia led this project. Canadian Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (CANAC) 10th Annual Conference: DKE assisted CANAC with the planning and execution of
its national conference, which was held in Vancouver in April 2002. The conference theme was Social Justice: the Essence of HIV/AIDS Nursing. DKE was responsible for pre-registration, venue
arrangements, and volunteer management for this 200-attendee four-day meeting, which also included a public lecture as part of its opening day. On this assignment, the firm worked with a 12-person
advisory committee. Keeping the Door Open: Health, Addictions and Social Justice Conference: For the BC Centre for Excellence in
HIV/AIDS at Vancouver's St. Paul's Hospital, DKE coordinated a 2-day, 200-attendee professional conference. DKE also secured an appropriate venue in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside for a very
successful public dinner associated with the conference (2000). |
