BC Recreation Stewardship Panel: In the fall of 2002, for Praxis Pacific, DKE provided support services for soliciting and
tracking over 500 comment forms and written submissions. The comments and submissions were made in response to the release of the panel's Draft Recommendations entitled: "A New Management and Funding
Model for Fish, Wildlife and Park Recreation". North Coast Tourism: For a client group which included Mike Harcourt, former premier of the
Province of British Columbia, and John McInnis, then Executive Director of the Environmental Mining Council, DKE promoted and assisted with the logistics of two workshops designed to bring First Nations and
other North Coast businesses and tourism groups together to discuss the potential for developing tourism on the province's North Coast. Meetings were held in Prince Rupert and Vancouver in the
spring of 2001.Tourism Deputy Ministers' Meeting: DKE planned and managed an ad hoc meeting of Tourism Deputy Ministers from across Canada, called in response to the downturn in tourism as a
result of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. This high profile 25-attendee meeting, held in Vancouver in October 2001, was hosted by the BC Ministry of Competition, Science and Enterprise
and the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism and Culture. With less than two weeks notice, DKE coordinated every detail of this meeting, including providing simultaneous English-French interpretation and
proceedings transcription. Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS ): For the BC chapter of CPAWS, DKE
acted as project manager for the 35th anniversary Gala Dinner and Parks Forum conference (1998) and the First Nations Co-Management of Protected Areas conference (2000). Event planning was a shared
responsibility, with DKE providing on-the-job training for CPAWS staff as part of our contract.Canadian Rivers Conference: Conserving & Restoring Our River Heritage: In 1998,
DKE acted as advisor and on-site manager for this national event which attracted 200-300 delegates from across Canada. Our client was the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC. |
